National « Rendez-vous aux jardins » Days
Since 2002, the Literary House of Victor Hugo has taken part in the « Secret Gardens, Garden Secrets » operation of the Essonne Departmental Council, and since 2003, in the national « Rendez-vous aux jardins » days organised by the Ministry of Culture.
On the first weekend of June, the date of the two joint events, guided tours of the Château des Roches park are offered to visitors.
The Château des Roches is the former property of Bertin the elder, director of the Journal des Débats in the 19th century, who created an English-style park of 11 ha bordering the Bièvre. A pond and its island give it a romantic charm.
